SCOPE OF ROLE
The Learning Experience Design Manager is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs and experiences across the organization. The role partners with leaders and subject matter experts to assess learning needs, develop effective learning solutions, and facilitate learning experiences that build employee knowledge and skills. Through strong project management, stakeholder collaboration, and creative application of adult learning principles, the manager ensures learning programs are engaging, impactful, and aligned with organizational priorities. The position also contributes to strengthening the overall effectiveness of the L&D function as well as department operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learning Strategy & Performance Consulting. Partners with stakeholders to identify learning and performance needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Learning Experience Design. Leads or collaborates on the design, development, curation, and continuous improvement of learning experiences grounded in adult learning principles.
- Program Ownership & Project Leadership. Manage learning programs and learning design projects from inception through implementation and evaluation.
- Facilitation Excellence & Learning Delivery. Facilitates learning experiences and promotes high standards for facilitator effectiveness and learner engagement.
- Learning Quality & Continuous Improvement. Help advance learning quality standards, evaluation practices, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Partnership. Build collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to advance organizational learning goals.
- Professional Consulting. Provide leadership, guidance, and quality standards for trainers, facilitators, and learning contributors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Learning Strategy & Performance Consulting
- Partner with leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to identify learning and performance needs.
- Conduct needs assessments and discovery activities to inform learning solutions.
- Guide stakeholders in identifying performance gaps and determining appropriate learning and non-learning solutions.
- Recommend learning, development, and performance support interventions (formal, social, experiential) aligned with organizational goals and budgets.
- Translate business needs into measurable learning outcomes.
Learning Experience Design
- Design, develop, curate, and continuously improve learning experiences grounded in adult learning and learning experience design principles. Ensure learning experiences are accessible, engaging, and learner-centered
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to develop engaging and relevant learning content.
- Create curricula, learning journeys, instructional content, educational media, workshops, session slides, train-the-trainer programs, facilitator guides, learner resources, manager guides, and support tools.
- Source and evaluate external learning resources, programs, and content providers.
Program Ownership & Project Leadership
- Manage learning programs and learning design projects from planning through implementation and evaluation.
- Develop project plans, timelines, communication strategies, and implementation approaches for learning initiatives.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, facilitators, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful execution.
- Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on learner and stakeholder feedback.
Learning Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Support learning evaluation efforts.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of learning quality standards, design standards, and best practices.
- Participate in departmental initiatives related to learning governance.
- Use data, stakeholder feedback, and emerging practices to inform improvements and enhancements to learning programs and services.
Stakeholder & Vendor Partnership
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners and external learning providers.
- Manage relationships with learning vendors, consultants, facilitators, and content providers.
- Support vendor selection, implementation, and evaluation processes.
- Represent Learning & Development and S:US on cross-functional initiatives, committees, workgroups, and external partnerships, as appropriate.
- Serve as an advocate for learning, employee development, and HR across the organization.
Professional Consulting
- Serve as an internal learning consultant to leaders, managers, and teams. Advise on learning strategies, instructional approaches, and performance improvement solutions, as well as implementation logistics.
Facilitation Excellence & Learning Delivery
- Facilitate learning experiences through live in-person, live online, and asynchronous learning delivery modalities.
- Coach and support trainers, facilitators, and subject matter experts involved in learning delivery.
- Promote facilitation standards and learner engagement best practices.
- Lead or support train-the-trainer activities and learning delivery quality assurance efforts.
- Support the development of facilitator capability and capacity across the organization.
